Sammy's Happy Tail ♥ The Dog No One Wanted

Sammy on his first day at the poundSammy is a deaf, senior Chow, pictured on the left during his intake at the Pound. No one seems to want to adopt either Chows or older dogs. Sadly, Sammy had three strikes against him because he was deaf, a senior, and a Chow. Lynn (a volunteer) and member of Friends of the Pound, made a vow to Sammy that she would find him a home.

After a long month in the Pound, someone finally answered the plea's for adoption and agreed to adopt Sammy. He was pulled from the Pound and driven all the way to Pennsylvania to his new forever home. He was very excited and so was Lynn. Unfortunately, after Sammy and Lynn arrived in Pennsylvania, the person suddenly changed her mind.

After looking at Sammy, the skinny old fellow with special needs, Lynn could not bring herself to take him back to the Pound. So, she decided her next plan of action would be to foster Sammy until she could find him a forever home.

Sammy well-groomed and healthy.Lynn took Sammy to the vet, had him neutered, made sure he was up to date on his shots, had a tumor removed from his head, and had his teeth fixed. Sammy's teeth needed to be fixed because he had been an outside dog; so, all of his teeth were all broken from chewing stones.

After two weeks of fostering Sammy, Lynn realized that she could not let him go; Sammy has been adopted by his foster family. We are happy to report that Sammy is clean, healthy, the correct weight, and as see in the picture to the right, he is so happy.

"Although Sammy had a happy ending, it is not always the case. This is why it is so important to have caring volunteers to help find our pound dogs a forever home. They deserve to be happy and sometimes the volunteers are all they have. We are trying our best to find homes for them all, and with your help, someday they will all have homes and will be loved, as they deserve." – Lynn Serri
