Annie's Tail ♥ Annie-mazing Recovery Anne Caston shared these pictures with Friends of the Pound. Anne said, "I just got a lovely update from the folks who adopted Maeve (now Annie), the emaciated yellow lab mix mama from last fall. She's adored by her family and looks absolutely beautiful!" |
| When I brought Maeve (as I called her) home from Stark, she was emaciated and had the worst case of kennel cough I had ever seen. At one point early on, she stopped eating and I thought I was going to lose her as she simply had no reserves in her body to fall back on. She turned down hamburger and rice, canned food, other foods with commercial dog "gravy" on top, but she would still eat chicken. |

| After a few days of cooking chicken breasts for her, she regained her appetite and began improving. Maeve put on almost 30% of her original body weight while I had her, and her dull, dry, brittle, listless coat was gradually replaced with a healthy, softer, shinier one. But as she felt better and got over her cough, I took her to the dogpark for some fresh air, exercise and all around fun. Alas, she blew out her knee! So she also had to recover from that! (I'm told it still isn't quite right but doesn't slow her down one bit.) |

| She was adopted by a retired couple, (whose daughter volunteers sometimes with rescue up in Geauga County). They do own a small pet-friendly motel on a lake in NY. She's adored by her family and looks absolutely beautiful! |
