I bet I can make you smile too!!   Will you be my forever friend?   So how am I suppose to play fetch and shake your hand when I'm in here and you're out there. Will you spring me?

Adoption Saves

These dogs are behind bars, but they've committed no crime. They simply could not depend on their former two legged guardians to provide them with the safety and care they deserve.

Friends of the Pound encourages the public to visit the pound to view the dogs that are currently available for adoption. For your convenience Friends of the Pound posts photos and limited information about the dogs on the petfinder.com website.

NEW - Fall 2009

Friends of the Pound is here to helpBecause of the abundance of irresponsible pet ownership within Stark County, most of the adoptable dogs at the Stark County Dog Pound are strays without individual histories of health, lifestyle or behavior. Before visiting the Pound to adopt a pet, please read the Dog Warden's Rules of the Pound, which are located to the right.

The homeless dogs may be adopted 72–hours after their arrival at the Pound. By choosing to adopt a dog from the Stark County Pound you are saving a life and gaining a grateful companion.

NOTE: If you are viewing the dogs online, it is best to note the cage number of the dog you're interested in, call the Stark County Dog Warden's Office, and ask if the dog is still available before you make a trip to the Pound.

HOLD POLICY

• Dogs may be placed on HOLD by emailing the Dog Warden's Office:
karussel@co.stark.oh.us

• Multiple individuals may put a HOLD on the same dog

• Each individual may only put a HOLD on one dog at a time (exceptions made for rescues)

• No HOLDS taken on owner surrendered dogs

• NOON DEADLINE on HOLDS. Adopt the dog or call to verify the time you're coming in by 12:00 p.m. or your HOLD will be void and the next HOLD will be called.

NOTICE

For the most part, dogs at the Pound are strays, so we cannot make any health claims or behavior assurances concerning our dogs.
